You might be under the assumption that your home is perfectly safe. However, we regret to inform you that this isn’t always the case. There could be a few home dangers that you do need to be aware of, particularly if you have kids. Below you’ll find examples of the issues in question as well as the right way to deal with them.
Trees
Some homeowners think that trees on or around the property are a wonderful feature. It’s true, they can provide practical benefits. They can offer extra levels of privacy or ensure that you have shade around your home and in the garden through the summer which is great. They can also be a pleasant aesthetic feature but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t dangerous. If a tree falls, then this can be catastrophic. So, if you have trees on your property, then you need to make sure that you are keeping a check on their health. If your tree is at risk of coming down then you need to use a tree removal service to deal with this the right way as soon as possible.
Flooring
The flooring of your home can also cause dangerous situations. It’s worth starting with the bathroom when considering the issues with flooring. Bathroom flooring can cause a risk of your children slipping when getting out of the bath or out of the shower. That’s why you need to make sure that you are adding matts to your bathroom floor. You might also want to think about adding plastic matting to the bottom of your shower. Do be aware that the majority of home accidents do occur in the bathroom. You could also have hard floors around your home and adding rugs will help here too.
Asbestos
It’s possible that you have an older home and if that’s the case then you might want to consider getting the inside of your walls inspected. Older homes used to use asbestos as a form of insulation. This used to be considered safe but these days we know better and it has been linked to a variety of serious illnesses. The good news is that asbestos is only a threat when disturbed, usually during a home renovation. That’s why it’s important to know if it is present in your property.
Plant Trouble
Finally, it’s important to keep an eye on what’s growing in your garden. If you are not an avid gardener then it’s possible that you don’t really care about the weeds or shrubs that crop up. But some of these can be a little dangerous. Particularly if kids decide to touch or pick them. As such, it might be worth hiring a landscaper just to make sure that nothing nasty starts growing in your garden and remains undetected.
We hope this helps you understand some of the key steps that you should take to ensure that your home is absolutely incredible and does provide the right safe environment that you need for your children.
