Fanhams Hall Hotel

 Fanhams Hall Hotel

With being busy working a lot it is hard to find time to catch up with my friends as work and home life always tends to get in the way, so with chatting to some friends we said we will make some time for a catch up and pencilled in a date and place to meet. I have just returned home from a good day with good friends at Fanhams Hall Hotel.

 Fanhams Hall Hotel
So where better than a nice hotel, we chose Fanhams hall hotel, this is in a nice location as it was local to all of us, this is a beautiful hotel located in ware Hertfordshire.
We all said we will meet at lunch time and have a nice lunch together, Fanhams hall hotel offer a picnic package where you can go and enjoy the grounds of the hotel and they put a picnic basket together for you along with some blankets.
In the picnic baskets we had all cutlery and everything needed for our picnic along with plenty of food, we had freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam, we had a selection of finger sandwiches, and lots of picnic favourites, there was also bottles of drinks supplied, water or fresh orange juice, this was all enjoyed very much and was a lovely Sunday treat, we found the time went too quickly, we got there at lunch time and was still there at 7pm, whoops but we was having so much fun.
We all had a great time and we was very lucky with the weather, it was really nice to be able to have a catch up with good friends.
We have all said this will be needed to be done more often as we all deserve a nice break once in a while.

Picnic party at Forty Hall

Picnic party at Forty Hall

Today we packed up a picnic and our sun lotion and headed off to join the friends of forty hall for a picnic party at Forty Hall and had our lunch in style with the sun shining brightly.

There was a fine variety of music performed by local artists, a Pimms tent and summer refreshments, lots of crafts and activities to keep the kids entertained, such as face painting, headdress-making, lots of fun and laughter to be had.

We sat back relaxed and had a great afternoon before the madness starts again next week with the kids returning back to school after half term, this has been a great day and a great way to end the half term with the sun shining and live music by local talent.

There was a punch and Judy show, this brought back childhood memory’s and even today I still find myself laughing.

There was a raffle where you could win a beautiful hamper, you could go and buy a lovely ice cream, they had a nice bread stall where you can buy freshly baked bread, a plant stall if you fancied treating yourself to a nice plant and there was lots of other lovely stalls.

The boys took their football with them and had a kick about, they was running about and had a great time, Bradley had worn himself out, but he was soon back to his normal self and back to running around after a short rest.

Family fishing day

Family fishing day

Today we have spent our day over at Stanborough lakes learning how to fish, we spent the day with Ian’s mum and dad, Ian’s dad has been fishing for years and has loads of experience so he has been showing us all how to fish.

We was unsure if the boys would enjoy fishing but they absolutely loved it, we have a fishing holiday booked for August 2015 so we need to get loads of fishing practise in before then, we hope to try and go a few times a month, we have so far purchased ourselves a basic starter fishing set and we will build on this over time.

We have a love for the outdoors and fishing is our new found hobby, so far we are all really enjoying it, today has been great fun, the boys had taken to it really well, they listened to their grandad and what he was explaining to them, there was lots of laughter and it was great fun.

The weather was not great but we made the most of the day, we had a good few hours of dry weather then the rain started but it did not stop our fun.

It was nice being able to spend that quality time all learning something new together, Ian has been fishing before but as a young boy and this is something he would like to take up again.

Bradley was the first to catch a fish but he was amazed at how many fish grandad was catching so after a while Bradley decided he wanted to use grandads fishing rod, the boys had their first experience of touching maggots and putting them on the hock, they also learnt how to unhook the fish, we was amazed to see them enjoying themselves doing so.

Fun in the sun

Fun in the sun
We woke up this morning and saw it was going to be another hot sunny day, we thought why not go for some fun in the sun in our local area, we went for a nice walk and had some fun along the way.
We are an outdoors family, always up and out at any given opportunity, we had a game of hide and seek in the woods, little did the boys know they had both hidden in the same tree, they found each other eventually, we climbed trees, or shall I say the boys did, we played ball games and then had a nice picnic.
It was nice taking in the lovely fresh air, watching the kids run around, listening to their laughter, seeing them get along together, just enjoying some quality time together, all those priceless moments.

Spring evening stroll

Spring evening stroll
Well what can I say its only Wednesday and it was a lovely evening so we thought why not go for a nice spring evening stroll, it has been a busy day at work and some fresh air can do wonders, we went armed with some bread for the ducks and we thought it would be a nice change, the kids have school exams coming up at the end of the month and we thought it would take their mind off  them even if it was just for a while, school exams can be a stressful time for any child.
It made a lovely change getting this quality time mid-week as the week days get very busy with late working days and kids home work, but their home work is all up to date and we got away from work early so we took advantage of this spare time and it was enjoyed by all, it was lovely, a nice ice cream was enjoyed by all as we walked off our dinner, the dog enjoyed an extra long last walk of the evening.
The speed kids grow up it is very important to grab every second you can with them because before we know it they will be leaving home, my mum and dad kept saying to me when I was pregnant about the speed kids grow and I just laughed it off but now my kids are here I understand that saying now, kids really do grow too fast, in fact I find it frightening to think they will soon not want to be spending their time with us as they will soon be too busy with their friends, so I am grabbing every opportunity I can and cherish every moment of it.

On our walk round we saw beautiful carvings

The house that never rests walk in the country !
The countryside has something for everyone from a bike ride, a nice quiet stroll, a picnic, read a book, to a ball game, we find this to be one of our way’s to relax, being working parents with a hectic week at work this is a way of relaxing whilst the kids are still out getting fresh air and having fun and most of all the dog can come along too.
How do you like to unwind and relax ?
