We have a pet called Buddy, he is a German Shepherd dog. Buddy is 9 years old now, we’ve had him since he was six weeks old.

We have been on an emotional roller coaster with Buddy since he became apart of our family. He was diagnosed with Hip dysplasia at the age of four. He became unwell and had to be investigated, he was then diagnosed with allergies, being allergic to beef and chicken. He has very sensitive skin and has to have medicated shampoo. Last year he was diagnosed with cancer, this was a horrible time for us as a family and tough decisions had to be made resulting in Buddy having to have his toe amputated.  Buddy was spending the night in our local Kennles last November he had only been in there for about two hours before we received a phone call saying we needed to get there urgently Buddy had been in an accident. Poor Buddy had a big cut on his cheek, Ian rushed Buddy to the vets only to be told that he needed to got to theatre to have the Wound cleaned and then it will need stitches.

Buddy is now starting to show his age, he really struggles when getting up, he no longer charges up and down the stairs or around the house and he can no longer go through the night without the need to spend a penny.

Buddy never lets us know that he is uncomfortable if we are asleep and tends to go just by our back door in the conservatory. We never tell Buddy off or make  him feel bad as it is not his fault. We have said it’s not worth changing the carpet as Poor buddy will only continue to suffer with age. We are currently discussing as to whether lino may be an option!

With Buddy suffering with not being able to go through the night without needing to spend a penny we have been trying out different ways to help make him more comfortable. Someone has been staying up later than usual to let him out that extra time before settling down for the night and someone will be up that bit earlier to let him out sooner in the morning. Doing this has helped make Buddy that bit more comfortable and the penny spending by the back door has not happened as much.

With us having carpet in our conservatory this problem has caused horrid smells and stains, to help with this we have been using Mr Muscles Pets. Mr Muscle has extended their range and now include cleaning products for those with pets. Mr Muscles Pets come in two different strengths, you have the choice of super oxy or pro strength. These solutions are suitable for use on carpet, wooden flooring, upholstery and even in the car.

Mr Muscle Pets has been working on the toughest of stains on our carpet, you simply squeeze the amount of liquid needed onto the soiled area, it then works by removing all odours and leaving a fresh scent. Mr Muscle works by breaking down the urine on-contact, penetrating deep into the carpet and completely removes the stain and odour. Leave it for 3-5 minutes to penetrate the stain and then blot the excess moisture with a cloth or paper.

Buddy sleeps in comfort

Buddy sleeps in comfort

Buddy recently had his 8th birthday, he suffers with hip dysplasia and at times this can prove very uncomfortable for him, we have recently been looking into getting him a nice comfy bed to sleep in at night as he got far too big for his old one and it was not supportive enough for him, we decided it was time for a change and he needed a comfy bed, he has recently been having a very comfortable night sleep with this new bed.

Buddy sleeps in comfort

When it arrived via courier Buddy was rather excited and he was waggy tailed and jumped straight into it, he loves his new bed and can be found on many occasions enjoying a nice sleep in it during the day, he fits inside his new bed perfectly, the bed has a lovely thick cushion thats sits inside, we chose the number 5 bed for Buddy as this size is for larger dogs, the bed size being 99 x 71cm means he has plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy a comfy nights sleep, they offer 3 other sizes but this size was best for Buddy’s size.

The bed is rectangular with high sides filled with 900gram polyester wadding panels, with a drop fronted front, it has a removable and reversible deep fibre filled cushion for easier care and for a cooler or warmer comfy sleep, it is also fire resistant.
The bed can be hand washed or you can wash it at 30 degrees, I have washed the bed once already and it washed up well and looks as good as new.

This bed retails at £78 from feedem this bed is of excellent quality, and Buddy seems very comfortable and happy with his new bed, feedem offer a wide selection of pet products at great prices.

Brad tested the bed out and was so comfy he fell asleep in it after school one day.

Pets birthday parties

Do you agree with pets birthday parties.

Today we have had a birthday in our house, Buddy has turned 8 years old, pets birthday parties they are allowed right? …. Well Buddy has them and enjoys them very much.
We have had Buddy since he was 6 weeks old, he was with all his brothers and sisters when we went out to look for our family pet and the kids chose and named Buddy out of all of them, they said we want to call him Buddy as he will be our Buddy, he is loved very much and gets spoilt rotten, he is not just a dog to us he is a loved member of our family.
Buddy gets birthday presents and a card on his birthday, he gets cakes and treats, the kids do him a little tea party and he gets spoilt rotten, we even sing happy birthday to him and he loves it.
This year the boys made him little cookie bones as his treat.

Buddy loves being made a fuss of, he loves cuddles, he has his own routine he loves a treat at 7 pm every night and soon let’s you know when it is time, he loves Christmas as he gets loads of presents and lots of fuss, he is very clever and can open doors, he goes down the cupboards and helps himself to his treats ( we have had to move them to a lidded box ) he enjoys a walk round the lakes, he loves to play ball, sadly he is allergic to beef and chicken and he also suffers with hip dysplasia and this makes him very poorly.

Here is buddy opening his birthday present.

Happy birthday Buddy.
